The Town of Medway and the Medway Public Schools engaged Beacon to provide full scope owner’s agent support for their solar photovoltaic Power Purchase Agreement projects at the Medway High School and Medway Middle School. With Beacon’s guidance and support, the Medway Public Schools selected a Boston-based solar systems integrator to install 132 kW and 386 kW photovoltaic arrays expected to collectively generate over 572,000 kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity each year. The twenty-year power purchase agreements provide the Medway Public Schools with renewable electricity at a fixed price per kilowatt-hour, which was less than the market rate for electricity, and includes a make-whole guarantee provision to guard against system performance issues. The first system at the Medway High School went into commercial operation in February 2010. The system at the Medway Middle School went into commercial operation in the fall 2011.
